Must say that I was thinking about your suggestion of a 12 hour race, while in the final stages of the ride. I think I am stronger on the endurance stuff than on the short, sharp stuff, like those women's national series races...
Trying my hand at a vets only race though next weekend, 2 day stage race. Should be interesting. I have been told it would suit me better, as it starts at a reasonable pace, then speeds up, which suits me as I need time to get into things, even after a decent warmup. The races I have done so far, with people that could be my children
