At least I'll know the course for next year!
I was otherwise occupied around Langsett..

Decided I ought to get my self back in training, not done much other than walk and race recently

18 hilly miles on the bike this morning. Running tonight I hope

    Re: Today's Training

Last nights club/pub run took us up to Darwen Tower.

Ive never been up to the tower before and ive never even got close to running near it.

After cycling to the run and running the first few miles in glorious sunshire, the heavens opened and we got a real torrential downpour as we climbed up to the tower.
I didnt know you could actually go into the tower which served as a good place to shelter whilst the rain stopped and whilst everyone caught up.

We then got to enjoy splashing through the puddles all the way back to the cars....and then the midges decided to play vampire us all....and then it tipped it down on the way home on the bike.

    Nice run.

    Yesterdays to be honest

What is turning into a regular jaunt up the Loxley Valley and back over Loxley common.

Got quite wet.......as wet as a peasant with his head rammed down a toilet in fact as we say in our house

merry, you appear to have posted a post meant for 'fetch' or RW on the FELLrunners forum

    Re: Today's Training

Last night 3 x hilly road reps @ ~1100ft (each just under 3 miles in length) onto Holme Moss from Holmebridge. Making the best part of 18miles for the whole jaunt in a tad under 2 1/2hrs.

Miles easier than the last time (when it was so bloomin' hot) as it was pretty chilly yesterday. Could even see my breath on the summit. Is that the end of summer then?

    4500ft, im happy with that.

    Another cracking run!

We started at Old Dungeon Ghyll and headed straight up the valley to stickle tarn. After skirting left round the tarn we headed up Jacks rake. Certainly not one for the fainthearted as it takes abit of balls at certain sections, and if you look down theres a good few rocks so splat on at the bottom.
We eventually simmited Pavey ark, and then contoured to Sergeant man. We considered heading off towards High Raise to bag another summit, we decided it was too far out of the way really.
So we jumped on the trod, and summited the 'blink and you miss it Thunacar Knott and then popped up Harrison Stickle, bobbed down to Loft Crag and then shot bag up to Pike of Stickle.
We then decided we'd head along the long trod to rocky Rossett Pike. It was here than i had a mini-bonk and i really seemed to run out of energy. I'd run out of water many summits ago but a couple of mouthfuls of DT's and a bite of a breakfast bar thingy and i found abit of life again.
We headed off towards Angle Tarn with my spring back in my step. The running water away from Angle Tarn was like a god send so i couple down a pint of that and fill my bottle up again for later.
We got to the shelter where we decided Allen Crags was to be bagged another day, and after talking to an injured fell runner (it ITB!) we trecked up to Esk Pike. It was here that we caught up a load of posh Aussie grammar school kids out walking the same way as us. After reaching Bow Fell we decided to call it a day and head back down The Band.
It was here that we caught up a man on his own, maybe in his late 50's/early 60's. He was flying down the scree off Bow Fell and i got all competative and has to catch him up. In the end the very happy chap decided he'd like to try out fell running and ran down The Band the whole way, and no matter how hard i tried over the rocky path i could not drop him. He said he'd never done fell running but i told him he could make an ace fellrunner and it made him even more happy.
The to finish off, a mile or so trot back to the car from the farm that the Great Lakes run starts from.

Fantastic run, the longest ive been on my feet running ever and im abit stiff!

Just had a quick look around, turns out it was half a langdale horseshoe recce and half a BG leg 3 recce.
