Part of the appeal for Wasdale for me is the almost lethargic "low-key" nature of what is a classic race. I don't mean that as a mark of dis-respect, in fact it's the highest form of prais I can offer. The year I trotted round it was a little keyring full of tags to hand in to marshalls at checkpoints.....spliffingly good.....up the Eastman

Thanks to Richard for the extended cutoffs - managed Pillar OK, would have been timed out by a couple of minutes at Gable under the old times, felt very rough from Gable to just before Esk Hause then picked up again on the way over to Scafell and had a decent run down to the finish. I found it much too hot all day! I was one of the DNFs last time it was this warm but delighted to actually manage the route on a hot day.

I have put the splits into a spreadsheet and worked out the positions for the geeks among you.

Well done to all that finshed and most of all to the marshalls and organiser for putting such a spectacular race, I'll be back next year for more..and to finish.
Geoff is very good over that type of terrain and distance DD. Its weird but you do get to know your fellow members. I knew Wasdale would suit Geoff because he comes good late on, very good and has a strong background of fell walking. And im confident that racing in the lakes leads to good performances in the lakes.

I aim to train for this race next year and I think it requires a total different approach to any other race.
Personally I think you need a good build up in the lakes over that distance which isnt easy.
You can pull me round next year

Amazing race - thanks to all involved for the experience - i'm slowly recovering from the trauma

Great video, photos and results service

Although the above made me spot someone running under a wrong name (male instead of female too...) - is that cause it's provisional results still???

Surely, with it being a championship race & folk signing a form before collecting their number, that's a bit sad!!???

Thanks for that CribGoch. I've had a quick scan and think I might get the prize for loosing the greatest number of places - 88th at Esk Hause to 134th at finish!

Next time I'm carrying a cork!

Got to agree with you there, Daz. I just wish all the Championship races were like Wasdale - I'd be in with a chance of a medal then!!

Thanks for putting the splits up. It certainly shows you how you did to all the others even those we can not see!
