Arghhh!! Looks like I made a good choice for my first AL race![]()
Have a good run today folks. Will be on the course with jelly babies, water, cookies. Hope it's not a wet one.
Yes Good Luck everyone - gutted that I can't make it.
Bad nights sleep, stomach cramps - feeling a bit off this morning. I can't risk getting round to CP3 / 4 and having problems. Not fair on the organisers.
Big thanks to all the marshals who had to endure some fairly wet and windy conditions.
Global warming my aristotle, thought my fingers were going to drop off on the Calf. Wasn't moving too fast at that point either due to overcooking it a bit on the way up and began to feel very negative and started swearing a lot.
For me the weather slowly ate away at my enjoyment of the event, it was my first AL and was hoping for easier conditions. Made a couple of novice errors, tried to jump the river at the base of Hazel hill but missed the opposite bank and strained something in the back of my knee which came back to haunt me around Calders, shouldn't take risks like that. Also fell hard on my knee trying to avoid peaty puddles, again-no need.
Witton Park; thought you didn't make it i couldn't see anyone in maroon tees at the finish, although my eyes weren't really working very well after being battered by raindrops doing 60mph on the Calf!
Cheers DT, good to see you today Manhar, didn't see you out on the course though, can't blame you for that, weather was a bit grim. However, had a storming run 54th place in 3h 2m 4s, chuffed with that, even managed to run all the way up the calf. A good day out with good company, cheers to John Broxap and all his helpers and marshalls. And a big thanks to the runner who picked up my waterproof after it slipped from the bungee on my bumbag, had a rucsac with some gear in stolen last week so nice not to lose that, cheers mate
An excellent course i must say!!!!!
