One of the best things in cars now is having a USB port. I've had mine about a year, & I've got a 32GB memory stick loaded with music & I just let it roll on random. Loads of reggae, 80s indie stuff and all sorts of other things. About 10% I don't even recognise, even though it's all stuff ripped from my own music collection. Pulled into work this morning to "2 pints of lager & a packet of crisps" at high volume. No shame, me.
Quality. That's what it's all about. Though I notice that on mine, it always seems to be that the closer I get to a cosmopolitan area, where I might be feeling a bit more self-conscious, with music blaring out of the open windows, that's when something 'cool' will segue into Wayne Newton, or Doris Day, Sheena Easton, or some other guilty pleasure.

True, particularly in warm weather when I've got the windows open. For some reason the one time that doesn't seem to apply is that every Wednesday as I roll into the car park for the Helsby RC training run, I seem to get a pretty cool reggae dub track with some serious bass. Now I've said that out loud, I'm going to get the Chipmunks doing Alvin's Harmonica tonight aren't I?
The winning streak continues. Seriously uncool stuff all the way there & back: dodgy indie tracks & 2 poor reggae tracks. On the way into the car park: Let's Face the Music and Dance by Jackie McLean, which is a seriously cool jazz track. Result. Bring on next week.
it's a bit niche, but I have on 'laughing stock' by talk talk
the same talk talk that did 'life's what you make it' - but a lot more 'out there'
genius
listening to the most excellent "L.Wells" by Franz Ferdinand. They sadly went off the boil after an amazing debut record but this little gem which appeared between albums 2 and 3 is as good as the debut record......superb.
oh, and 1979 & tonight tonight by the pumpkins......spectacular sounding years on
