I didn't see that sign (fortunately), but the Langdale Half and Full Marathon road races were going down that road on Sunday.
really enjoyed this - great race
Wetherlam must be the toughest climb I've 'run' - harder than Little Stand at Duddon - amusing to see the variations on the basic diagonal route aiming straight at the peak, wonder if any of them worked?
then a great contour round below the ridge and down to three shires stone, courtesy of a bloke called Andrew, wearing a bright green (fell ponies?) vest, who led a bunch of half a dozen of us on a superb line - ta for that!
tried to refuel yomping up Blisco: anyone ever snorted nuuns?
what a treat that descent was to Blea tarn ... perhaps not.
Mindlessly scoffed a good half-dozen jelly-babies at the cattle-grid - wasn't til I was blowing my lid up Lingmoor that I realised I'd been a bit greedy ... at which point I could easily have brought them back up for all to share, cos Lingmoor was a right bast ... er, sting in the tail - memories of Caw at Duddon, and Dalehead at B'dale
but what a cracking descent: there's nowt like some flags to get the spunk back up
finished just outside the top hundred
now then, race classifications: surely everyone who started the race should be included? because nigh-on 300 people started that race, so the 276 on the ambleside results is misleading isn't it: timed-outs and DNFs should always be included, because it's the proper indication of the toughness of the race. If 300 started, then you're 100-or-whatever out of 300, not 100th out of 276. (Nitpicking, but right?)
Well done organisers, marshalls, tea-and-pasty girls, etc
how come I never meet anyone off here then?![]()
