Interesting event in terms of shoe selection. Ran in road shoes 2 years ago and remember slopping and sliding around in those muddy fields. Horrible clarty mud that stuck to your shoes
Two years ago aye twas a good year if that mud and and horizontal rain and sleet could be guaranteed in October i may be tempted again

It has gone soft! Still, I'll be there, not sure why it was a bit of a nightmare last year ... I think that's why I love it so!
This was my first 50 in 2005 but I pulled out after 40 miles in 2006 due to a hip problem.
Looking forward to a return match with more daylight!

I just completed the HP40 a few weeks ago, how do the two compare, can anyone tell me?
I know I have until 12 October to enter, and would like to have positive thoughts running around my head.

These are two very different races over very different terrain and it is hard to compare them, but given the extra ten miles of distance and the chance of some good heavy cloying mud then they may be comparable for effort required.
Take away mud wind and rain, then RR would be easier IMO for what that may be worth
