    I didnt and i appologise.

Since my knees have been behaving over the last 6 weekends, ive been getting up to the lakes for a long run.
So i havent touched the bike in ages....and a 100 mile round trip after a race the day before would have slaughtered me.
I was there in thought though.

Ive been wondering for ages....does everyone still use clip in pedals for this?
Surely the running part will just trash your cycling shoes and the cleats?

i did see one guy in a pair of swoops....but i'd reckon 99.5% are in mtb shoes and mtb style spd type pedals,

    c. 18 miles of road

there isn't really any running involved unless your in the top few....I've never seen anyone run at all though I was 1 hour and 10 mins behind the winner.....at most it's a quick walk with bike or short step trotting along

I ran down the steep, for me unrideable bits... managed to overtake a few men during my descent of Whernside, transpired it was much faster to just shoulder the bike and run rather than getting on and off all the time... Same again on Pen-y-ghent. Pretty much rode the whole of Ingleborough...

I lost my left cleat. I suspect the bolts/screws in it loosened themselves from the pressure put on the forefoot of the shoes while ascending carrying the bike...

yep, it would be certainly interesting to see the how the quicker riders tackle certain sections

obviously what terrain is rideable for one person may not be for another...which is the quickest though ?

Exactly! It would be intreesting to see how ther top guys tackle certain sections.

My lack of off road bike handling skills meant that I was certainly faster running with the bike at times and as I overtook some riders while doing so, I reckon it was definitely the right decision to get off. One guy uttered some unrepeatable words when I passed him, running, carrying the bike while he was trying to ride down thinking he was going quite fast no doubt!
