    Biggest Red (I think) Deer stag i've ever seen at 0730 this morning trotting through the car park @ Barley, and i've spent hours in many forests in the Lakes doing my degree, never seen one that big.

    5 red kites and a herd of red deer yesterday but it probably doesn't count as I saw them after Harewood 10mile trail race and the herd were tame and the kites released there...I enjoyed them though.

    Several grouse on way to teach my evening class and a tawny owl on way home...

    I drive past Harewood every weekday on way home from work and it's rare not to see a kite or two. Magnificent birds and I think a fair 'spot'

    They are amazing aren't they? I love watching them flying.

    Saw two hares, a pipistrelle bat and helped a little toad across the road and prevented it getting splatted by the car that came flying up the hill.

    three red admiral butterflies on the ivy and lots of bees (a good sign!).
