There's a serious lean on some of those runners in the pictures. It looks and sounds epic. I did this event a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it; I shall return as soon as I get the chance. This year I was further south running the Longmynd Hike. Fortunately it wasn't quite as windy down there, although we still had a good lean on the hilltops!
and yet more
Excellent pictures Ian. The bog monster struck! I'm amazed he was surviving. SteveS, respect!
Seemed to successfully avoid the camera for the first lot, but not quite so stealthy for the second lot.
Some cracking photos, and worthy of a new avatar I think![]()
Any running results yet????
Cheers. However... The timings are out for the RL. I had mine corrected from 3:17 to 5:17 (with my 14 stone bulk the quicker time isn't a possibility). My training partner Ben, who ran with me all the way has a time of 3:17. I think that there are one or two issues to be teased out here.
Don't take this the wrong way, but in the long run, does it really matter? We went out there to pit ourselves against the elements. Where we actually came in the race didn't really matter. It was to raise money for the guys and gals who give up their time to train and save lives whenever they are called out.
When accidents happen, they give up time to get us back to safety.
Having said that, I'm sure my time was 1 second less.![]()
Aye, I am philosophical about it, however.... I am interested as it was the first event I have entered despite bog trotting for many a year. I am philosophical about it too. Not too bothered about the time itself, but chuffed that we were faster than our recce run which was in better conditions. A bit peeved as I will have to buy a new hat. Mine got donated to someone in Barnsley by a strong gust up Mickleden.![]()
