The alpkit jobby is still a bargain even though its been upgraded to £15. good beam on main and a smaller seperate white led backup if ever the main one dies (is that possible) good enough for trail running on known routes .
My son uses it and reckons the best upgrade would be to be able to get the red and green leds to flash on and off so he could have a disco effect while he runs???

    Re: Headtorch help

Just bought one of those Alpkit ones (I was picking up a new air matress in their sale, and got suckered in to a new torch too...) and it looks very bright, and feels nice and secure. Should be using it by the end of next week, so will report back on running with it.

Another vote for alpkit (gamma?) - great value headtorch. Never used it for running myself, but would say its probably not bright enough for proper off-road night running.

It is unless you want to illuminate the whole fellside!
I use nothing else and have been running on the fells at night for 15 years or more.

Mind you, when I started out a Petzl Zoom was the best you could get!!

Just ordered one - 15 quid seems like a bargain and the reviews place it just about next to a Myo XP, which i had but have lost

For that price you could get and wear two together for double the brightness!

Its not anywhere near as good as a Myo XP as I've said on here before

Beams too narrow, can't see where you're heading and where your feet are about to land at the same time.

Mine broke after getting wet (had it in my pack as a spare) it didn't go out mind just wouldn't switch off

Handy torch for the house though
