100-110 is a good cadence to go at.

    I wouldnt agree with ADy
I think that cadence is plenty Trevor

Lots of stuff has come about with cadence with Lance Armstrong( Not saying Ady has been influenced by that as I admire Ady for his riding ability)
But id say over a hundred is a bit more
If your racing and competing fair enough ut 95- 100 is plenty.

.....a bit of advice please.... am new to this biking thing (can't be running at the mo).... is "the turbo" the same as doing a stint on a stationary bike at the gym? ....have been doing workouts of an hour on one, lowish resistance so I can keep rpm's of 95 - 110, HR 120's building through to 160's.. what kind of work out would this be classed as??

    Thanks... any advice appreciated

    Hi H&P,

I treat mine as a tempo session 5mins warm up
20 mins at 83 to 88% HR or Zone 4
    5 mins cool down

I had tryed Ady's 105+ which was very tough for me,
I was a lot more comfortable at 95 to 100.

Cheers to both Ady and Daz for your good advice

    Thanks Stagger,

....I'm OK cruising around 100 - 105 for a good period of time (50mins+) after warm-up, I try to increase to 105 -110. 110 feels like short burst sprinting. 110 is (for me) really going for it, and I try to keep it up there for as long as I can which is for about 15 seconds at a time, but I try to do some repeats.

I hope this 'works'.... ...... I do feel pretty good afterwards though

i may not know much about stagger but from having read some of his posts he strikes me as likely being a socialite with an overbearing sense of his self importance. i said nothing on these here forums that would unsuitable for minors eyes whereas stagger has been referring to sticky vicky on these here forums. know what i mean? hypocritical idiots the two of you with nothing better to do than put the world to rights

Antisocial kinda gets carried away sometimes.....but when you talk to him face-to-face he's actually a very nice chap.
Ive never seen staggers posts to be anything but another very nice chap, not yet had the chance to say hello to him but i certainly dont hold anything against him.

    Ignor anti-sally....he gets abit cantankerous.

I've got some turbo workouts if you want them? I found they helped get rid of the boredom that sets in after only cycling for a while in a fixed place! I take it you mean an upright bike and not the recumbant? The turbo that you're own road bike goes in I found to be more of a workout than the gym ones as the resistance was tougher to begin with. If I can did out the workouts I'll PM you but there's stacks of stuff on the net. Sorry about the foot was looking forward to getting out and running with you

Stagger I concentrate on a cadence of 90 - 100 but then am a girl!!
