t-m...Apologies for my earlier negative reply. It was wrong for me to have a go at your keeness.

I've 'ad the Wasdale race in mind for some time now. And that's where it's probably ganna stay!

Have you seen my Wasdale film? It might give you some inspiration.

    Re: Wasdale Fell Race.

I remember talking to a bloke at Wasdale last year who'd recently done a triathlon (Canary Islands or somewhere, maybe?). He was pretty young and looked fit enough, but he was timed out at Seatallan (I think). Said he found the hills really hard (and the real hills hadn't even started by then).

Geoff I see you have done Kinder Dozen as well – how would you compare the two as they seem to be roughly similar in distance and climbing? Would succeeding on the Dozen in a reasonable time be a good benchmark of success at Wasdale?

    Re: Wasdale Fell Race.

most tri's are pretty flat affairs, so not ideal training for hill running....though plenty of fell runners time out at wasdale too i believe?

    i've given myself a gradual & enjoyable apprenticeship before contemplating wasdale....edale s'line,3ps, and a gaggle of al/am's/bofra.....

but half the excitement and motivation comes from trying something that isn't readily achieveable ....coupled with a unbridled zest for landscape

novice, sort of coming over from the other thread here - but if you do Borrowdale next year that will be an excellent achievement.

Wasdale is v close in the calendar and will take a substantial extra chunk of endurance and a toll on the legs. Why not save it for the year after?

I've targeted Wasdale for next year having done B'dale last.

If you did the Lakes Tri events and finished then you'll finish the Lakeland Classic events.
