Poem envy I think its called. However, how many poems do you know that are about carsharing? This is the reason I am not in the best frame of mind!

    The Carshare

A carshare seemed a good idea
In the summer of this year
Times were hard and I was keen
To split the costs and be green
For one week in every two
I have a car and troubles few
For the other times I’m fonder
Of zipping around on my Honda
    Some days my CG125
    Has me feeling so alive
On others there is a sense of dread
As I unearth it from the shed
When the nights are long and dark
Being a biker is no lark
If the roads are cold and icy
    Cornering is very dicey
But the worst is howling gales
That is when my courage fails
Gusty winds may knock me over
And under the wheels of a speeding Nova
So if you think you’d like to share
    Just remember to beware
On the days without the car
    If you’re going very far
    Maybe better a hitch hiker
    Than a flattened motorbiker.
Bloody hell! Out on a bike tonight.

Exactly...I'm getting a glass of whisky to calm my nerves. Liked the flamingo haiku...it has a lovely rhythm to it.

Hes - a fine ode, and I can honestly say (though I'm no expert) that this is the 1st car sharing related poem on this thread, and may be in the world ever! I hope that writing it got something out of your system. I'm finding that penning a line or two seems to help me park some negative nonsense and get on with the day.
Having ridden a bike for 20 odd years, and fairly recently said a reluctant goodbye I know what you mean about windy days. November is a sod for bikers - if it's warm, then it's windy and the gusts can be nerve-wracking, and if it's not windy, then it's probably frosty. And then there's wet leaves..... And that's before the Nova brigade aim their metal boxes at you.

So now that's out of your system....deep breaths....and relax.........
And thanks for the kind feedback earlier.

I just wanted to think about something other than the grim weather.

Thanks OW. I am slowly relaxing again but I spent most of the journey thinking up the poem to distract me from the adrenalin buzzes I got at every gust of wind and the times the bike got blown across onto the wrong side of the road. Floods are a laugh too I ride along with my legs tucked up to avoid the bow wave). It's nice to have the ear of a fellow biker (I imagine yours was slightly more impressive than a 125) and you are right...poetry is cathartic.

I heard one of the best quotes ever the other week at work. This guy was complaining that his colleague was tight-fisted when he said "You'd pinch a worm off a blind hen!" It is the best thing I've heard in ages!
