    Between us

    Between us now and here -
    Two thrown together
    Who are not wont to wear
    Life's flushest feather -
    Who see the scenes slide past,
    The daytimes dimming fast,
    Let there be truth at last,
    Even if despair.

    So thoroughly and long
    Have you now known me,
    So real in faith and strong
    Have I now shown me,
    That nothing needs disguise
    Further in any wise,
    Or asks or justifies
    A guarded tongue.

    Face unto face, then, say,
    Eyes mine own meeting,
    Is your heart far away,
    Or with mine beating?
    When false things are brought low,
    And swift things have grown slow,
    Feigning like froth shall go,
    Faith be for aye.

    Thomas Hardy

    Ooooooh. I like that.

    I didn't Hes but do you remember the name of play or playwright or which show as it might be on BBC i player which i can access via my computer and then stream it too my t.v. Good luck with the artist issue with the indian authorities because you are an artist and therefore deserve to be recognised as such.

    An ol' favourite...

    A Red, Red Rose

    BY ROBERT BURNS

    O my Luve is like a red, red rose
    That’s newly sprung in June;
    O my Luve is like the melody
    That’s sweetly played in tune.

    So fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
    So deep in luve am I;
    And I will luve thee still, my dear,
    Till a’ the seas gang dry.

    Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
    And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
    I will love thee still, my dear,
    While the sands o’ life shall run.

    And fare thee weel, my only luve!
    And fare thee weel awhile!
    And I will come again, my luve,
    Though it were ten thousand mile.
    Am Yisrael Chai

    And even more roses...

    Midwinter

    BY SOPHIE JEWETT

    All night I dreamed of roses,
    Wild tangle by the sea,
    And shadowy garden closes.
    Dream-led I met with thee.

    Around thee swayed the roses,
    Beyond thee sang the sea;
    The shadowy garden closes
    Were Paradise to me.

    O Love, ’mid the dream-roses
    Abide to heal, to save!
    The world that day discloses
    Narrows to one white grave.

    ...but with a sad ending
    Am Yisrael Chai

    They're lovely choices Mossdog and very topical for me as I've just been drawing roses. I've always liked that Burns one.

    Glad that they have some resonance for you Hes.
    And finally...

    "Go, lovely Rose"

    BY EDMUND WALLER

    Go, lovely Rose—
    Tell her that wastes her time and me,
    That now she knows,
    When I resemble her to thee,
    How sweet and fair she seems to be.

    Tell her that’s young,
    And shuns to have her graces spied,
    That hadst thou sprung
    In deserts where no men abide,
    Thou must have uncommended died.

    Small is the worth
    Of beauty from the light retired:
    Bid her come forth,
    Suffer herself to be desired,
    And not blush so to be admired.

    Then die—that she
    The common fate of all things rare
    May read in thee;
    How small a part of time they share
    That are so wondrous sweet and fair!

    ...So 'go-eth' a floral evening.

    Night all.
    Am Yisrael Chai
