I 've got a better solution, ban all the old farts who are slower and take more steps, that way the young 'uns like me Al and softie who float accross the ground with the flair and precision of ballet dancers will inflict less damage to the fells. back me up young guns, i think i'm onto something

But more speed equals greater impact on each step. The way forward is clearly to enforce walking-only fell races like those funny races where everyone minces about trying not to ever leave the ground. If we also wore some sort of large snowshoes, we'd barely leave any footsteps.

I can't think of anyone who would object to such a suggestion. After all, the preservation of footpaths should be more important than the sport.

Don't include me on that. I get beaten by pretty much every category of vet, and after a night race last week, found myself getting beaten by a pair of little tikes too (12 & 13).

Apparently, one of them is current BOFRA champion, which I take as a small consolation.

Ban everyone and we can all take up "Virtual Fell Running".... isn't that what most of the prolific posters do anyway? I can't see how they can fit any actual running in.

I feel we are fishermen patiently waiting by an empty lake. Will no-one bite?

Are people so inured to your flame-baits AS?

That's right. I'm still out of breath after 10 miles with hill reps.

    Been away - my what?

I think it is the other way round what was meant to be a humorous single post has a myriad of postings of different hues and an implied threat from UK Hursty and i wasn't even trying to wind anyone up. (This time)
