    Aint No Cure For Love

    Leonard Cohen

I loved you for a long, long time
I know this love is real
It don't matter how it all went wrong
That don't change the way I feel
    And I can't believe that time's
Gonna heal this wound I'm speaking of
    There ain't no cure,
    There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love
    I'm aching for you baby
    I can't pretend I'm not
I need to see you naked
In your body and your thought
I've got you like a habit
    And I'll never get enough
    There ain't no cure,
    There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love

There ain't no cure for love
There ain't no cure for love
All the rocket ships are climbing through the sky
The holy books are open wide
The doctors working day and night
But they'll never ever find that cure for love
There ain't no drink no drug
    (Ah tell them, angels)
There's nothing pure enough to be a cure for love

I see you in the subway and I see you on the bus
I see you lying down with me, I see you waking up
I see your hand, I see your hair
    Your bracelets and your brush
And I call to you, I call to you
But I don't call soft enough
    There ain't no cure,
    There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love

I walked into this empty church I had no place else to go
When the sweetest voice I ever heard, whispered to my soul
I don't need to be forgiven for loving you so much
    It's written in the scriptures
    It's written there in blood
I even heard the angels declare it from above
    There ain't no cure,
    There ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love

There ain't no cure for love
There ain't no cure for love
All the rocket ships are climbing through the sky
The holy books are open wide

    That cure for love

After The Lunch - Wendy Cope

On Waterloo Bridge, where we said our goodbyes,
The weather conditions bring tears to my eyes.
I wipe them away with a black woolly glove
And try not to notice I’ve fallen in love.

On Waterloo Bridge I am trying to think:
This is nothing. You’re high on the charm and the drink.
But the juke-box inside me is playing a song
That says something different. And when was it wrong?

On Waterloo Bridge with the wind in my hair
    I am tempted to skip. You’re a fool. I don’t care.
The head does its best but the heart is the boss —
I admit it before I am halfway across.

What's this on the floor, looking tattered and torn,
Oh, it's my life, didn't turn out the way i'd planned,
I pick it up, tell it it'll be ok and carry on

We all fall down sometimes, no shame in that, it's the response to it that counts

    Re: Today's poet

    Freedom.

Freedom is what you want it to be,
Not what is thrust upon you by society,
To reach out and grasp it you just have to be brave,
Because if you do not your already in your grave.

For real freedom you just have to say up yours to the rules,
Live life as you want it not something governed by fools,
Freedom means not taking the meds letting emotion run free out of my head,
The Psychiatrist deems that i should take my tablets and be the living dead.

Now your freedom will not be the same as mine,
That's o.k. it's how it should be everything is fine,
There is only you holding you back so be true to yourself,
If you are brave enough to grasp your freedom you will be your true self.

Well done Tri-M a professional looking site. i tried to leave a greeting there, but the security on my work computer forbids it! I'm looking forward to seeing your work together in one place. And I do hope it contributes - as you intend - to the better understanding of mental illness.

Well I'm impressed that you can sleep in, do everything that needs to be done, [I]and[I] find an appropriate poem about it! How on earth does she do it???

    Just come across Yehuda Amichai

A QUIET JOY – Yehuda Amichai
    .
I’m standing in a place where I once loved.
The rain is falling. The rain is my home.

I think words of longing: a landscape
out to the very edge of what’s possible.

I remember you waving your hand
as if wiping mist from the windowpane,

and your face, as if enlarged
    from an old blurred photo.

Once I committed a terrible wrong
    to myself and others.

But the world is beautifully made for doing good
and for resting, like a park bench.

And late in life I discovered
    a quiet joy
like a serious disease that’s discovered too late:

just a little time left now for quiet joy.
