Stipperstones Seasonal Saunter anyone? Should be there, but walking with Missus (another injury ). If you are planning to enter on the day, do Chris Dawes (organisor) a favour and let him know you are coming before - the numbers are going up and up and ...............

From Marches web site, re Stiperstones Seasonal Saunter ........

"The weather forecast is wintry with an all day frost and a light northerly breeze. So the mud will be frozen but the Stiperstones Ridge will feel bitterly cold with the wind in your face. Be prepared and anybody not wearing full body covering will not be allowed to start."

Moley, I assume you and the Missus will be include The Horseshoe Inn on your route.

The boy wants to run some of it, but I intend to stop - maybe just a half. I'm told that "the one in GBG is too early on route but could be considered before journey home."

Did you enjoy it Molehill - you were looking resplendent in those stripey tights - no chance of losing you in the hills. I was sweeping and sauntered around gawping at the views- we couldn't have had a better day.
This Saturday before Christmas started about 8 years ago with about 40 entries and run out of Roger's garage. This year there were 146 pre entries and a further 55 on the day. I think that part of the appeal was the fact that it was a preview of part of the 2011 Housman 100 route but perhaps more a general desparation to avoid Christmas shopping.
Great to have so many walkers and runners - and given the numbers - a fantastic turn out of marshals including the ladies whgo produced 150 baked potatos and beans. Funnily enough none of them wanted baked potato for dinner last night.
Did you know by the way that the provisional route for the 2011 hundred is available on the eccentric Marches Group LDWA website. Perhaps nearer for you to recce than the Heart of Scotland.

A lovely day out and thanks to the Marches and their 'Smooth Operations' group of helpers.

I think the numbers simply go to show how much the running/walking fraternity would prefer to do anything but spend a day Christmas shopping . A last ditch chance of some fresh air and exercise before the horrors of next weekend.
Typing this from work, best get my head down and do some I s'pose - looks a lovely day out there.

just bagged an ace cottage in Cracoe (just a couple of miles from the start/finish at Threshfield) - sleeps 8 - 180 quid for 3 nights - ideally situated encircled by the route of Trollers, so should mean the Slug Clan can cheer me on at more than one point!

Going back to the Stiperstones seasonal saunter - the email sent by Chris to the marshals bears a wider audience
"Note that Gatwick and Luton Air ports were closed on the day due to snow, Eurostar trains broke down due to the wrong sort of climate change, the Telford Christmas 10K in the park was cancelled
for the first time in 26 years due to icy surfaces, and the Climate change Conference to control global warming died of hypothermia in Scandinavian cold. In Shropshire the Seasonal Saunter went
    ahead without problems":
