as you can imagine i have been buying other people a lot of poetry this xmas! (selfish sod that I am!!!!!) I bought charles bukowski's "what matters most is how well you walk through the fire" today as a gift for someone....here is a poem from there which I really like....

    Lifedance

the area dividing the brain and the soul
is affected in many ways by
    experience –
some lose all mind and become soul:
    insane.
some lose all soul and become mind:
    intellectual.
    some lose both and become:
    accepted.
I think this poet is searching for awnsers what it means to be ones' self . what did you think

Neil, I think your choices in poetry are great. I think your a real breath of fresh air and far more skilled than i could ever be although i certainly have never claimed to be skilled to me writing is therapy for my bipolar disorder. I must say i would have expected a man of your undisputed integrity and intelligence to have directed your comment about the quality of one of the forumites poetry in an open way rather than disguising it. I don't think been veiled about it should be your style after all we're all adults and we don't want the bad feeling there has been on some other threads coming on to this one. Although i am sure this was not your intention.

Mmmm...yes I think you are right...i related to the line
"some lose all mind and become soul" I think it was a really good description of how sometimes when impassioned you can kind of lose your ability to think logically!!!!!!...the last line is interesting, perhaps it alludes to the fact that it is only when we let go and lose both mind and soul that we really know who we are...hey i have gone full circle to your orginal premise!..... Ooooo i like a bit of intellectual banter on a friday neet!

I think this appertains to your dedication of that very good armitage poem...you dedicated it to another forum member not saying whom exactly, so perhaps that is where the confusion lies...but there was no reference to anyody's poetry being poor!....I think the problem with the forum sometimes is that it is easy to misinterpret information at times but I am sure we can sort it out people!

I like this little poem and think its quite timely given that i used to enjoy the odd starbucks coffee at borders which is going to be sadly missed!

Freckle is right about which line i am referring to. You have my most sincere apologies for my misunderstanding. My intention certainly was not to cause offence. I just misread it and as i mentioned in the previous post i think neil is good un' and couldn't understand why he would veil an insult. This is entirely my doing and no excuses.Sorry Neil please accept my apologies.

I f that is the case Tri i'll clear up the confusion the Armitage poem was intended for boy wonder for no other reason than is avatar is the Boy Wonder himself just. it was just seeing the avatar made me think of the poem so I posted it no malice intended to anyone, organisation etc..
