    Re: Today's poet

I found a poet called Rory Motion in Oxfam yesterday. (Well a book of his anyway.) He's great, and here's a small taster. He's silly at times which I rather like.

    Compromise

    So let's stop fightin'
    Let's stop bitchin'
    We're always arguing the toss
    You call it lichen
    I call it lichen
Let's call the whole thing moss

    Bangers, hangers

    sausages,
    hostages,
    frying-pan, captivity.

    chipolatas,
    tortured martyrs,
    grilled, sacrificed.

yep i is missing her too! well said tri!

oh and i like the sausage one too!

was goin to put auld lang syne up but instead found this by rabbie burns.....top of the morning to ya!

    the day returns

The day returns, my bosom burns,
The blissful day we twa did meet:
Tho' winter wild in tempest toil'd,
Ne'er summer-sun was half sae sweet.
Than a' the pride that loads the tide,
    And crosses o'er the sultry line;
Than kingly robes, than crowns and globes,
Heav'n gave me more-it made thee mine!

While day and night can bring delight,
    Or Nature aught of pleasure give;
While joys above my mind can move,
For thee, and thee alone, I live.
When that grim foe of life below
Comes in between to make us part,
The iron hand that breaks our band,
It breaks my bliss-it breaks my heart!

    Initiation.

    I watch the sky,
The waters of rebirth pass over me,
In a multitude of shades of vermillion,
    Naked i am reborn.

Like the first of my kind,
I let out an ancient roar,
Looking for my first kill i enter the woods,
    Something moves adrenalin courses.

I see it moving silently barely breathing,
Nearly there i pounce hacking and slashing,
Screaming like a banshee i anoint myself with its blood,
Lay prostate in front of my master offering him my kill.

He's really good this guy. I laughed out loud when I read both of them. I'll post some more later.
