    Re: Today's poet

    Lost identity.

    So far in this curious life i have been three different people,
    The first an innocent playing in the sun,
    Such great joy from simple things like hop,skip and run,
    Not caring as the world carried on all around me,
    Finding such beauty in everything being so free.

    So far in this curious life i have been three different people,
    The second brought the power of the oncoming storm,
    An unknown darkness starting to take form,
    Keep losing control when left alone at school,
    My friends are leaving they think i'm a fool.

    So far in this curious life i have been three different people,
    The third thanks god for his children and wife,
    Because of my behaviour no friends in this life,
    Left all alone the disease with my life has run amok,
    Leaving very little but to wait for death watching the clock.

    Re: Today's poet

    My Personality {or lack there of}

    I am a series of masks on cheap white paper,
    Crisp, virginal but trashy too,
    The mask of a clown planning some caper,
    This is the ghoulish smiling mask familiar to you.

    Why does he hide you might ask yourself,
    Cause' theres nothing behind this cheap facade,
    No personality or feelings that come from myself,
    You wouldn't understand you haven't been played that card.

    My real face has gone it is devoid of all feature,
    Blank and lifeless the real me missing for years,
    I am a lost,ugly and gnarled pitiful creature,
    How would you feel if the real you had gone and left just fears.

    Fellrunner {Honest}

    Oh how i want to run,
    But mind won't allow it,
    To drift through the snow it would be fun,
    I am pinned down by illness so i can't begin it.

    There's is nothing better than the wind in your hair,
    No such cooling sensation than rain your face,
    I would love to do it but bipolar won't take me there,
    Curling up in a corner not leaving my place.

    My mood gets lower as i put on weight,
    Will i ever run again on the beautiful fells oh lord,
    I hope people understand me and i hope they can relate,
    Not wanting others to think i'm a cheat and a fraud.

    Re: Today's poet

    When I am dead, my dearest,
    Sing no sad songs for me;
    Plant thou no roses at my head,
    Nor shady cypress tree:
    Be the green grass above me
    With showers and dewdrops wet;
    And if thou wilt remember,
    And if thou wilt forget.
    I shall not see the shadows,
    I shall not feel the rain;
    I shall not hear the nightingale
    Sing on as if in pain;
    And dreaming through the twilight
    That doth not rise nor set,
    Haply I may remember,
    And haply may forget.

    New Year what will it bring?
    the only certainty
    is uncertainty!

    So fill your glass
    and laugh in the face
    of enforced convivality!

    Dear fellpoets
    here is to your health,
    your wealth
    and above all

    to your HAPPINESS
    and potentiality
    with love a freckle

    Oh...and the other thing i thought I would mention is that at this time of year there is often a pressure to have various ambitions for happiness/contentment etc etc for the coming year...if life isn't exactly running smoothly for some of you (us), and your life is in a state of flux! sometimes it is comforting to focus on the more constant things in life and in particular in nature.....

    cue Larkin.....usually so acerbic but here i think rather sweet

    Solar
    Phillip Larkin

    Suspended lion face
    Spilling at the centre
    Of an unfurnished sky
    How still you stand,
    And how unaided
    Single stalkless flower
    You pour unrecompensed.

    The eye sees you
    Simplified by distance
    Into an origin,
    Your petalled head of flames
    Continuously exploding.
    Heat is the echo of your
    Gold.

    Coined there among
    Lonely horizontals
    You exist openly.
    Our needs hourly
    Climb and return like angels.
    Unclosing like a hand,
    You give for ever.

    Re: Today's poet

    Have you gazed on naked grandeur where there's nothing else to gaze on,
    Set pieces and drop-curtain scenes galore,
    Big mountains heaved to heaven, which the blinding sunsets blazon,
    Black canyons where the rapids rip and roar?
    Have you swept the visioned valley with the green stream streaking through it,
    Searched the Vastness for a something you have lost?
    Have you strung your soul to silence? Then for God's sake go and do it;
    Hear the challenge, learn the lesson, pay the cost.

    Have you wandered in the wilderness, the sagebrush desolation,
    The bunch-grass levels where the cattle graze?
    Have you whistled bits of rag-time at the end of all creation,
    And learned to know the desert's little ways?
    Have you camped upon the foothills, have you galloped o'er the ranges,
    Have you roamed the arid sun-lands through and through?
    Have you chummed up with the mesa? Do you know its moods and changes?
    Then listen to the Wild -- it's calling you.

    Have you known the Great White Silence, not a snow-gemmed twig aquiver?
    (Eternal truths that shame our soothing lies.)
    Have you broken trail on snowshoes? mushed your huskies up the river,
    Dared the unknown, led the way, and clutched the prize?
    Have you marked the map's void spaces, mingled with the mongrel races,
    Felt the savage strength of brute in every thew?
    And though grim as hell the worst is, can you round it off with curses?
    Then hearken to the Wild -- it's wanting you.

    Have you suffered, starved and triumphed, groveled down, yet grasped at glory,
    Grown bigger in the bigness of the whole?
    "Done things" just for the doing, letting babblers tell the story,
    Seeing through the nice veneer the naked soul?
    Have you seen God in His splendors, heard the text that nature renders?
    (You'll never hear it in the family pew.)
    The simple things, the true things, the silent men who do things --
    Then listen to the Wild -- it's calling you.

    They have cradled you in custom, they have primed you with their preaching,
    They have soaked you in convention through and through;
    They have put you in a showcase; you're a credit to their teaching --
    But can't you hear the Wild? -- it's calling you.
    Let us probe the silent places, let us seek what luck betide us;
    Let us journey to a lonely land I know.
    There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us,
    And the Wild is calling, calling . . . let us go.
