Read the Bell Jar it's interesting and as many poems of both sylvia and ted and journals. The picture of her declining mental illness in bell jar is very good.

Doesn't the Ted Hughes poem posted say it all about there relationship and his frame of mind towards it. I don't think anything more needs to be read regards that particular subject. Genius.
a suggestion...first fell poets meet=
i) some hideously hard (by my standards) fell run
ii) pub grub and snecklifter
iii) crashing at someone's pad to watch slyvia the film to discuss
iv) a poetry reading (each fell poet to bring one of their own pieces and one another to discuss)
what do ya think?....too highbrow?
if so we could always have a plan b?

Be kind
we are always asked
to understand the other person's
viewpoint
no matter how
out-dated
foolish or
obnoxious.
one is asked
to view
their total error
their life-waste
with
kindliness,
especially if they are
aged.
but age is the total of
our doing.
they have aged
badly
because they have
lived
out of focus,
they have refused to
see.
not their fault?
whose fault?
mine?
I am asked to hide
my viewpoint
from them
for fear of their
fear.
age is no crime
but the shame
of a deliberately
wasted
life
among so many
deliberately
wasted
lives
is.
Charles Bukowski </B>
what can i say? this guys a genious!
Absolutely
Life is not for wasting.
Let me die a youngman's death
not a clean and inbetween
the sheets holywater death
not a famous-last-words
peaceful out of breath death
When I'm 73
and in constant good tumour
may I be mown down at dawn
by a bright red sports car
on my way home
from an allnight party
Or when I'm 91
with silver hair
and sitting in a barber's chair
may rival gangsters
with hamfisted tommyguns burst in
and give me a short back and insides
Or when I'm 104
and banned from the Cavern
may my mistress
catching me in bed with her daughter
and fearing for her son
cut me up into little pieces
and throw away every piece but one
Let me die a youngman's death
not a free from sin tiptoe in
candle wax and waning death
not a curtains drawn by angels borne
'what a nice way to go' death
Roger McGough
Rory Motion is just fab....
I was watching the match at Leeds Road
It started raining
The two old blokes in the next seats
Took their caps off
"Excuse me," I said
"Why are you taking your caps off?"
"Nay, lad," the nearest one replied
"I'm not going to sit all night
In a damp cap."
