    touchdown in blizzard
nestling in the snow, my home

    It's quiet here!
Welcome back Hes. Hope you had time to enjoy the snow today.

    If I tried to build
A sledge it would be ready
    For Midsummers day

    Lost Hope

I'm so tired of being lost in a world,
Where no one can find me.
I want to break free of the cage,
That has been enclosing me for too long.
I know that I am alone and no one will save me,
So I am to escape for myself.
    I wander down a path,
That will go on for eternity.
I shall never reach the end,
I am trapped no matter where I go.
Though I finally manage to reach the end,
I must fight the monster inside of me to pass.
It is filled with so much anger, hate, and despair,
The only antidote is love, courage, and hope.
The three things I do not have,
    And never will.
It is there that I give up,
I have nothing left but myself.
    So I lay down forever,
Never going to get up again...as I fade away from all existence.

Thank you X runner for this and MG for your poem, it was a smasher. I did manage to get out and about on a bit of the simonside route although the snow was so deep it was a bit daft really! but lots of fun too and just what the doctor ordered ( a poem to follow when I get round to it!)...there have been some great contributionson the thread over the weekend, for various reasons I have found it difficult to keep up but I always love to find so much here....WELCOME BACK HES!!!! you have been a miss, and I agree with Harry regarding the ol sledgemaking, that is very impressive my dear girl!...you can't get sledges up here for love nor money so if you get going you could be on to a nice little earner!

Thanks Freckle...it is good to be back (much as I love travelling). I didn't quite get round to making my sledge (may well be midsummer HHH) due to lots of phone catching up and digging my car out (again). Then I went wassailing and think it maybe be time to look out a poem with that theme in mind...

    Memories of the curlew

    Gazing all the way
    Through a haze of fatigue
    At the pulchritude INFRONT
    And all around me

    Metamorphosis takes it toll
    in need of replenishment
    The hills, a salve
    to personal torment.

    Pretty little village
    under cheviots white stare
Cars with their hats of snow
    Enclose hearts laid bare

    Memories of December cairns
    Now seem ludicrously old
    This northern fell
    a different vista to behold

    And so prints plodge
    a (not quite) virgin track
    After an hour
    Time to head back

    Smiles and double polos
    The journey home
    With memories of the curlew
    To soothe the soul

That's really beautiful Freckle and I also like the quote (I'm sure there is a name for it) at the bottom of your posts.

    Re: Today's poet

well..the wassailing songs all seem to reference God and I'm n no mood for that so here is some Kamala Das instead:

    Words are Birds

    Words are birds.
Where have they gone to roost,
    Wings tired,
    Hiding from the dusk?
    Dusk is on my hair,
    Dusk is upon my skin;
When I lie down to sleep
    I am not sure
    That I shall see
    The blessed dawn again.
