Was looking to enter this one having sat it out for the last 2 years, only to discover entries are full as of last week (ie when I looked to enter)- hey ho - will have to get my rear in gear in time for next years race.

I bought one last year, from Lakesrunner I think. They tend to stock up nearer the race (presumably holding back in case of route changes)?

It was useful but far from essential. You can work out a decent route from the grid references and the forum reccy is good for insider knowledge!

    Ta Rich.

I've got a recce planned for Feb: if anyone familiar with the race would have a few moments to jot down the 'areas of uncertainty' for me, I'd be much obliged.

That wouldn't be taking the most direct route between Grindsbrook Knoll and Ringing Roger would it Ian?

I did a gentle recce with a mate of mine from the start round to Hollins Cross in around 3hrs just after Christmas. Mind you, that was in deep snow and did include an unplanned detour to the Kinder Trig point If there's that much snow around on race day, I'm not confident of making the cutoff simply because it's so much harder.

Was thinking of maybe attempting a recce this week. How bad is the weather/ground at the moment? Not so much for the running, that's the easy bit. I'm thinking more of my donkey of a car getting stuck.

Maybe I should wait until the week after.....

Can I take it then that this isn't a race for a novice?

certainly not a novice but if you can map read and have done a few longs or mediums it shouldn't be a problem.

The second half is where it gets tough.
