    Re: Anniversary Waltz

Thanks for the cowbell comments, made the grind up there to freeze my bells off worthwhile. Well done everyone. Next appearance will be at the 3-peaks. Not cycling from home for that one. Hope to see a few friendly faces there.

BTW - Anyone know of a nice legal(ish) way to get a bike up ingleborough from horton way? I could always go via ingleton and up the bridleway, lord knows I need the exercise.

Apologies to emmilou as I cycled past her bottle on the descent from High Spy. I did feel bad enough to have a wander up there in the pea soup today to see if it was still there but unfortunatley it had gone. At least there's no need to worry about littering the fellside now

Having tried it both ways I have to say the descent from High Spy is much better by bike...You guys don't know what you're missing

The cow bells were great Hotdog....much appreciated by all.

Can see now that Emmilou was at a disadvantage then .... it takes a lotta bottle to do some of those descents at high speed....and she'd lost hers!

Wabbit wasn't planning to do the race, but after a few pints in the pub the night before, Steve Cliffe persuaded him that he should. We scraped together some kit, and on the basis of his recent training (none), experience in the Lakes (none) and drinks the night before(lots) predicted about 3 hours for him.

He decided to follow me round, and I thought "whippersnapper, lose him at Robinson", so he passed me on Maiden Moor (where I was dying on my arse), and came in a bit over 2 hours.Sod!

Monkey did the junior race, haven't seen results yet. Thanks to Wynn, Steve, Ian, Alex, Bod, Dave, Tom and many many others, for the race, fry ups, beer and cake. Wayne, stop feeding Rabbits at High Spy

Hopefully see you all next year, for what I think is the best fell race in the calender.

My Garmin gave me 11.60 miles, but I didn't recce it, so maybe there is a shorter route.

Was it drizzling on the top of Dale Head?

Big thanks to Steve & Wynn for another fantastic day (& to all their helpers). Thanks to Grouse & family for keeping an eye on Emma & to Emmilou for offering to step in if Grouse didn't make it. Thanks to Chris K for doing the juniors - 100 runners is fantastic.

Great to meet all the forumites. Do I get a prize for predicting Fellrunner would be first back? I was obviously a year early, as my time last year was more or less identical to Fellrunner's this year. (6 minutes slower this year - 1hr 52min.)

I can also claim membership of the club that went to the knoll to the right of High Spy! I reckon it cost me roughly half a minute, so no big deal.

Not sure how I managed to drag my poor old weary body up to Paddy's Pole yesterday, but I'm suffering for it this morning.
