Bruv got round this by being a mere squaddie at end of cold war when they got rid of everyone especially in infantry, then completing every course he could from all his HGV's, management quals and even running firework displays. Each time they have had a review of manpower they realised
a. they needed his experience cos they had got rid of most of the others who had it.
b. It would cost too much to let him go cos of all his qualifications.
As he joined the pioneers due to dyslexia and they were looked down upon by the infantry and most people who joined transferred as fast as they could out, he stayed with them but got tours and attachments to everyone else thus getting experience and varied skills and rising through the ranks.

Haha, well from what I saw on my fitness test down at the Recruit training base, then yes.
Some of the potential recruits level of fitness was abysmal!
They have now have a pass or fail system for the so-called fitness test at the pre-recruit training course. You won't believe how low the standard is, and people still fail it!
