Gasped my way up to Monksmoor tonight, which was still looking Arctic. I know it's not to everyones taste, but I just adore it when the fells are dressed in those cryptic bands of snow - the contrast between light and dark.

    Tawny hoots below,
    Snow begrudging, shows the way,
    Mudclaws growl at ice.

    Nice haiku Mossy.

Cryptic bands of snow. I like that too. You should use that line in a haiku before someone is "inspired" by it and nicks it!

I think 'Mudclaws growl at ice' is wonderful Mossy

Not real snow here now. Just the occasional icy patch at the weekend and residual lines of stubborn stuff along the higher fell walls

More snow on the Howgills since Thursday. But only a sprinkling to make it look cold and scenic.

Sounds like when we drove up for the forum XOTF get-together before Christmas. More plum puddings with a sprinkling of icing sugar than sleeping elephants

    Sleeping elephants
    Strangely enough
    Need shampoo
    Anti dandruff.

Sorry about that. I really should have stopped after my first haiku tonight! I've gone downhill faster than Ted Mason ever since.

Really love this Mossdog. I'm envious that you were running in the fells, I've just got back from a moonlit muddy run but it was mainly road.

I'm sure it's snowed at the Anni Waltz before now, so careful what you wish for. It just might happen!
