i remember entering this the year before last with mike and he came out the other side of the pennine bridleway with a dreadful cold well virtual pneumonia and dropped out.... so it does happen....
(i was going to come by train and bike too!)

Maybe you could also push the fact that there's a fantastic bus service to and from Old Town, might even involve the railway station as well during its journey.
A few of us reccied today and found it very wet and boggy underfoot (just for a change?!) and also some bits with snow/ice that we had to pass with caution/trepedation.
Mad horse in one of the last fields as well on the drop down to Wood End in Nutclough. It was all chilled and turned to face us whilst eating, we walked, as would always do so not to spook it, all of a sudden it reared up and started to gallop towards us! I did sh*t myself but a frantic waving of the arms and shouting steared it on a slightly different path.....wierd!
