    Re: Pennine Bridleway Relay

A big thanks to the organisers. Think it was the first relay I've done for quite a few years and enjoyed it immensely - not sure if my partner would agree as it was his introduction to hard out fell running and whereas I've been getting in plenty of 11 milers over Winter Hill, his training has been much more speed focussed and the second half of the race (and the run back to the car) were a bit of hard work for him. But I'm sure he'll back for more (and being much younger than me will no doubt leave me standing soon).

Well it wasn't a Fell Pony team

I had a great run thank you. My partner is not quite as fit at the moment, though I am sure that will change - it usually does.

Any reports of shortcutting reported to me are investigated. I did get a couple of reports which I have looked into. As always we have to speak to the team who have been reported as taking a shortcut and dont always take the word of the team reporting them as in the past there have been believe it or not malicious reports. On most occasions the shortcutting is a genuine mistake and the transgessors have been contrite. Time has been added where time has been gained by any team by not following the correct route. As we say in the race details " The route is definitive ie there is no route choice. Shortcutting or deviation from the proper route causes resentment and ill feeling by other teams and should be avoided at all costs "

Thanks to all organisers & marshalls, we had a great day out. Ran leg 2 & the conditions were good, other than the bits of treacherous ice here & there. Always nice to have fog going up Gorple, means you can't see the top & just keep plugging away until you get to the gate. Then cleared up into a fabulous day, views were great.
Strangely we ran the race 11 minutes quicker than last year but finished 1 place lower down. Everyone must be getting better!

Excellent food, I suppose that's the advantage of getting up early and being on leg 1!
Hope you had a good race L.

Yes, many thanks to everyone who made yesterday possible.

Anyone else walking like John Wayne today? Thrashing down those hills on hard, frozen ground in shoes that have little cushioning is hard on the legs!

Saw one team taking a long cut on leg 5. They must have missed the sharp right turn up and ended up on the corner T junction by the loos at Healey Dell, then had to back track up the road toward Whitworth.

    Some pics.
