Either would be pretty challenging to a contender going clockwise.

Surely the only logical conclusion is for 2010 only to move the start and finish to either side of the river.....or allow 24:05 rounds..

    :-)

Route via Allerdale Ramble path from start of footbridge, NW next to river, up onto A66, over river on road bridge to end of path from footbridge is 0.51Km longer than directly over footbridge. 3/4 minutes extra at most? Shouldn't be critical overall.
It will be fine - good luck.
It's the B5289, you don't need to go quite as far as the A66. Did this at the weekend (diversion round suspension bridge, not BGR!). It only adds a few minutes.

Thanks Steve J B; Exactly what I meant to describe from a distance. Good to know it works out in practice.

This seems to be the definitive source of info, but hasn't been updated since January. Given the fundamental damage to the bridge, it could be some time before it opens. The diversion via B5289 is 0.5 Km.

They're updating the Bridges FAQ on the top of that link, it downloads a PDF last updated on the 19th March and now on version 11, but the footbridges have disappeared on the latest updates for some reason
