A fireman coming round to my house would be rather nice so long as it was a social visit!
That wasn't meant to sound lascivious! Anyway, I'll post a haiku from Snow:

    the creak if snow
    in my footsteps
    - the cicada of winter

    Woman

    She, the river,
    said to him, the sea;
    All my life
    I've been dissolving myself
    and flowing towards you
    for your sake
in the end it was I
    who turned into the sea
    a woman's gift
is as large as the sky
    but you went on
    worshipping youself
    you never thought
    of becoming a river
    and merging with me.

    as stiffness creeps in
I ask myself was it the
    hill reps or bike slide?

An hour in the bath doesn't seem to have eased my muscles so I'm heading for bed, I expect to be walking like a 90 year old tomorrow, no change there then!!! Night all.x

    Fell runner.

    Headlamp torch,
    And reflective vest,
    When out running,
    Safe is best,
    Fell shoes,
    For a healthy grip,
    Club colours on,
    My Brown yellow purple strip.

In Cumbria, if you ring the Fire Brigade up they'll come and fit smoke alarms for free. Might be the same your way. I've seen them bring a fire engine and several strapping chaps to do the job. Might be worth a call!

You'll be fine Herackles. I'm sure they'll be a friendly bunch, just like fell runners everywhere.

A lovely poem Freckle, which resonated with me. It had a nice twist too.

    monday she was someone
    i wanted
    to get to know.
    i didn't understand
    why i should
find it hard to hug goodbye
    or kiss hello.

    tuesday she rescued me
    from the forest
    of my pride.
    a hundred years of branches
had grown up on all sides
    i wasn't sleeping
    more fatigued with pain;
    something inside had been denied
    until she came.

    wednesday she said she couldn't
    keep it secret
    anymore.
    she came and declared herself
    leaving flowers at my door.
she said i was her cinderella
that my foot fit her shoe
    but her words
    left me speechless
i hadn't expected my prince charming
    to be
    a woman.

    thursday she told me stories,
how love takes time to grow,
how frogs can turn into princes,
how the beast can be loved and known.
    how expectations and assumptions
    often leave a sour taste
    and the mirror reflects
    only the truth it sees
but only those who dare to
    can see it and believe.

    friday she took her pipe
and told me she would go,
    she had kept her promise;
charmed the rats out of my conscience.
    for her gift of healing
i needed to offer in return
    but i couldn't love her
    like she asked.
so she stole into the night
    and i could neither fight
    nor follow
    even knowing she was right.

the fairytales i used to read
always said the princess meets a prince
but now she's gone and i've not found
    happy-ever-after since
    it's become clear
    since she was here
    second best isn't
    going to be good enough
    anymore.

    Good morning all...

Well, Spring is just around the corner....poets paradise!

Spring is like a perhaps hand
    E E Cummings

    III

Spring is like a perhaps hand
    (which comes carefully
    out of Nowhere)arranging
    a window,into which people look(while
    people stare
    arranging and changing placing
    carefully there a strange
thing and a known thing here)and

    changing everything carefully

    spring is like a perhaps
    Hand in a window
    (carefully to
    and fro moving New and
    Old things,while
    people stare carefully
    moving a perhaps
    fraction of flower here placing
    an inch of air there)and

    without breaking anything.
