I think testing my night time navigational skills is one of the things i'm worried about even though i know the area o.k.

I love night time navigating. You get so immersed in the landscape and you see completely new aspects that you miss during the day. It is fascinating running along familiar routes as you never quite follow exactly the same path, you kind of zig zag to your destination which means you visit little areas you never would if you could see the distance view. Many a time I've got lost on routes I've done hundreds of times but that all adds to the fun.

Failing that, it always gets light again in the morning!

That made me laugh. It is now one of my life's ambitions to impress someone enough that they name a sheep after me!

DT's always asking what my middle name is; so this week it is Harry Herdswick Howgill.

I'm sure your disgruntled freind wouldn't turn down a lady in uniform, so it works both ways!

Ha ha...Harry is a good name for a sheep, I'll mention it to my friend on Lewis, she has named a lamb after me as it was born whilst I was visiting some years ago and now that sheep has had a few lambs herself.

a silent blackbird
feathers plumped against the cold
saves his song for spring

Spring! Not round here it isn't yet. We've had a whole load of snow this morning, some of the biggest soggiest snow flakes I've ever seen. It looked like a proper cotton wool film effect!

That is tonight's job sorted then. I'll not be moping around in my winter mood, I'll be on the quest for sprightly Spring poetry.

I don't think it has lost anything if it has been misquoted. That's great; I like the style.

Nice one DT. I'm always slightly envious of anyone who can see the Southern Cross. It always means adventure to me.
