if that happens it's hard to see how they can do the Bleaklow section. The road is open at the moment but any snow or wind(drifting) will cause it to close due to the amount already up there.
Marshals will have a tough time if they can get there. I'm not sure how they will get there tent pitched at SS. The road would need to be clear to evacuate any one dropping out or surffering from exposure etc. where this is a race/route for strong experienced parties you still have a responsibility to the runners.
Personnaly I think it will go ahead as it stands.
General Forcast for the mountains of britain from MWIS for the next 5 days has it slightly dryer,
I'm going up to inspect the route on Wednesday to Bleaklow Stones. I'll take a few pics and we'll keep our fingers crossed. On the positive side the less faster teams will hit bleaklow in daylightOverall, remaining cold with the snow pack across upland Scotland, and on higher areas elsewhere remaining in place. Patchy snow may reach the far west on Tuesday, and continue here and there Wednesday and Thursday (although the detail of just where is uncertain). Cold easterly winds will set in during Thursday (perhaps overnight), and then over the weekend, back northerly. Freezing levels will rise from the north (as the wind turns northerly) but a thaw is unlikely to extend to higher Scottish summits.![]()
