I've had a quick look at Dufton's website for places that we might be able to host Simon Armitage.

    http://www.dufton.org.uk/Dufton%20Fountain1.htm

Venues are a tad thin on the ground there. There is a fountain and a wind! I like the "facilities" page: All are in Appleby, and there is only a bus there on Tuesdays and Fridays.

    I'll keep on looking.

I've just seen the web page for the pub in Dufton too. I was hoping that at least the garden might be big enough, but it says that:

"It has a beer garden in the front where one can sit."

So that is alright for that person, but what about the rest of us?

There's the Stag Inn (which on Saturday could have been called the Stagger Inn) which seems a canny community oriented pub that sells Black Sheep ale, as well as the village hall where the High Cup Nick registrations and food are, and it has a stage.....
Seems like a perfect storm is brewing....
