I've been saved by blackcurrents on the side of the road before now when I bonked on my bike coming back over Kirkstone Pass.
Nature is a wonderful thing, wish I'd found blackcurrants when I bonked on my bike...had to make do with a friend's mars bar! I was cycling to a time trial (running) up at Wass Bank and I discovered a brilliant wild plum tree on the way. I picked masses of the things and then had to cycle up a steep hill with my panniers full.

Poetry must be in your blood...it is instinctive!

    Plums
    by Catherine Savage Brosman

They’re Santa Rosas, crimson, touched by blue,
with slightly mottled skin and amber flesh,
    transparently proposing by their hue
the splendor of an August morning, fresh

but ruddy, ripening toward fall.—"So sweet,
so cold," the poet said; but this one’s tart,
its sunny glow perfected in deceit,
as emulation of a cunning heart.

I eat it anyway, until the pit
alone remains, with scattered drops of juice,
such sour trophies proving nature's wit:
appearances and real in fragile truce.

    That is all good training.

It has been fruit and veg night tonight on the thread. Tatties, Leeks, Fruit Bats, and then plums from both you and Pablo!

I'm now feeling hungry. But I've only got apples left.

    Re: Today's poet

    Thoughts of you all.

I don't want to go fell running,
I don't want to be seen,
    People will see me coming,
    They will think it obscene,
    Can't shift the weight,
    No matter how i try,
    My image i hate,
It makes me want to cry,
I don't think i'll go the anni waltz,
Embarrassed to be seen by you,
    It's none of your faults,
Have a good day and all finish too.
