Andy, the Fiendsdale organiser, has just received written permission for this year's race; after much negotiations regarding the route. SO IT IS DEFINITELY ON and the 50 entries received so far will now have their cheques cashed. We are limited to 120 entries, so please be quick if you have intentions.
We will not be using Wolf & Saddle Fells this year, due to actions placed on the land owner by Natural England, so PLEASE, NO training or recce-ing on that side of the Parlick / Paddy's Pole ridge, if we are to maintain a good working relationship.
The race will be 1 mile & 300 feet less than last year, but still qualifies as an AM. The route will be divulged on the morning of the race.
Ian Roberts.
Will there be entries on the day if the quota is not filled by pre entry?
Yes Martin; but you will be taking a chance and risking a wasted journey. The 120 limit will be strictly adhered to. First come, first served, etc. Mind, as a Bowland member, we could always find you a marshalling job, so bring plenty of warm gear.![]()

Just bumping this up, to highlight for information purposes
Mapper et al,
The race is as it has been for the last 4 years ( 2006 to 2009 ), minus CP2 & CP3. Thus for this year:-
CP1 - as ever - NGR 597456 - gate at wall junction on Blindhurst Saddle.
CP2 - NGR 597472 - stile/fence junction adjacent to "1707" ( 520m spot height )
CP3 - NGR 588485 - stile at Fiendsdale Head
CP4 - NGR 586477 - sheepfolds at stream/wall junction
CP5 - NGR 591468 - Fairsnape Fell trig point, then follow the obvious track SE to the gate at NGR 595466 - (must at all times keep above the fell / intake wall)
CP6 - NGR 594457 - gate at bottom of fence, adjacent to fell/intake wall junction
CP7 - NGR 596450 - Parlick Pike summit; descend SE down E side of the obvious gully.
Finish - NGR 599446 - bottom of fell, behind Fell Foot Cottage.
Please vacate finish area ASAP and quietly - we have a good working relationship with the residents of the cottage and we want to maintain it.
I should be on my regular duties, car parking, followed by CP1 then CP6.
Hope this is helpful, Ian.

Just 'bumping' this for a mid-week heads-up.
