Point taken and perhaps this is a better answer than my alarmist response to the original question about maps. However night navigation with a map is tricky so it's best to know the route or hopefully someone in the group knows the way. Whilst I can see what you are saying Roger i.e know the route well. on that section and esp at night if you don't have your map in your hand you will be in trouble. The reason most people get lost is complacency, you should be ticking off the features as you go so you know exactly where you are. Waiting until you are unsure is the wrong time to get the map out.it's already too late.
This time I'll be taking a GPS
Stolly I'm sure the route fits on OS 98, will check tonight.
