Re: Anni Waltz entries now on

For someome who's done AW twice and had a taste of a couple of Lakeland Classics, I think it fair to say that AW is a fantastic race within the capabilities of most of us.
Fantastic views and perhaps amongst the best routes of any fell race. But it isn't the hardest.
But extremely rewarding on many levels.

I am gutted that it clashes with PPP this year.

The TWA gives you all the plusses of the AW, but with that essential ingredient required for some of the nutters out there - lots of extra ascent - which will put the TWA in to the Lakeland Classic bracket and perhaps beyond, as the scenery just cannot be beaten.

Re: Anni Waltz entries now on

recce'd the top end of the route yesterday
fantastic - SO looking forward to this now

why has nobody ever mentioned the descent from Dalehead to the tarn? - my single favourite sort of underfoot - what I call a "Tetris" path - one of those roughly made steppy jobbies where you can just fall down, so long as you keep looking 1 or 2 steps ahead
no doubt some purist will come on droning on about a secret grassy line, but I LIKE these paths

Well, I'm certainly no purist, but I've never come across a path down to the tarn. I've always just taken a direct line - mostly grassy, pretty steep, but a bit rough.

Can't see me being fit for this one, unfortunately. Probably having a cortisone jab in the ankle on Monday, which doesn't give me much recovery time. Next year...
