Tawny Owl on tonight's headtorcher![]()
Poacher turned game-keeper
5 Golden Plover on Boulsworth (couple of weeks ago actually)
House Martin possibly but didn't see any white on it. Black all over and flew in to a hole on a barn roof thin swept back wings. flashed past pretty quick though so just assumed it was a swift.
Lots of Curlews and lapwings dancing in the wind today.
The Kestrel I saw earlier I've seen 3 more times and always close by, once with it's mate. I've not seen one this close in this area before so I'm assuming(again) it's a new nesting pair.
Heard a curlew on Shelf Moor tonight but didn't see it, what a lovely sound, haven't seen any swifts , swallows or house martins yet but lovely to see lapwings dropping out of the sky on the way to work.
Which usually arrive back first out of swifts, swallows and house martins and what're their approx. arrival dates?
Apparently, swallows should arrive this month. - http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/bird...low/index.aspx
Swifts in April....http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/bird...ift/index.aspx
House martins - Also April http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/bird...tin/index.aspx
Swifts shoud be first, shouldn't they?![]()
