Sand Martins first then Swallows, Swifts and finally House Martins. I think that's the order.

Seen any of these lately?...generally found in the plug'ole or on the bed sheets...

Some sort of owl on Cutthorn hill. It was a bit misty, and I'm not great at owls, so I couldn't tell which sort. I can rule out little, barn and eagle.

Other than than some curlews and a lapwings. Loads of grouse on Axe Edge, and some mallard taking advantage of the bogs I was trying to avoid.

Saw loads of dead worms on the surface of the Scar today.
It could have been because it was the first real rain we have had in a along time.

Still waiting for the House Martins & Swallows to return.

I wonder if they where put off after hearing about our cold winter on the news.

They might book a flight somewhere else this year?

April 13th for the swallows last year in Masham, 11th the year before, 9th the year before that so I am expecting the first bedraggled little creature to be preening outside my window on the 15th April!

A couple of Hawks today. Fantastic to see them hover in such a stationary position in such windy weather.

According to the Guardian today "Scientists in Ghana this week reported great flocks of swifts heading north and the first swallows and wheatears have just arrived in southern England from equatorial Africa... Next week we should get a rush of migrants."
