Been scribbling again and now have ventured outside the BGR for inspiration. Not too far outside though. This is about the joy of descending from a hard earned summit in a race or hard run. That initial downhill serction is my favoiurite section in a race and my favourite races are the up-and-down real rollercoasters as described below. Hope you recognise this

    Downhill

    Summit crest, dramatic
    Hairs on neck, like static
    Arms spread, automatic
    Potential, now kenetic

    Plunging down, exciting
    Placing feet, exacting
    Braking quads, exploding
    Heaving lungs, expanding

    All too soon, it’s done
    Hands back on thighs, again
    ‘Till summit crest, dramatic
And hairs on neck, like static...
That has all the makings of becoming a real classic fell running verse OnOff - really excellent, and the cadence is just the bizz - very well done.

Hes, again you've poetically captured the cyclic tragedy and triumph of life in you two haiku so I'm not sure if I should sniffle or punch-the-air - I'll do both. Hope you're now back on the right track.

    Wild Geese
    Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
    love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
    Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
    are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
    the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
    are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
    in the family of things.

Good luck to all in the AW tomorrow looking forward to seeing you all very soon! and for those of you else where have fun!

Oh no...that's gutting. I'm so sorry to hear that Merry. I bought you some choccie cake too (didn't get time to make my own). Hope to see you at another race soon. I'd better get to bed as I was supposed to be camping up in the lakes but work got in the way....very early start tomorrow to get to AW in time!
