    Re: Welsh 1000 metres

    doing this -
Infact the memorable sight of the 1000 metres front runners sudden, seemingly almost supernatural materialisation from clag and crag on Llewellyn some years ago, was what first turned my head to the drama and rewards of this fantastic sport and convinced me to swap hiking boots for fell shoes.
So, 3 or 4 years later, quite a few miles, ft of ascent and battle scars gained, reckon i'm about ready to give it a run out.
Reminiscences aside, hoping to reccie the route one weekend this month -
Having caught up with previous threads I'm pretty much there with most of it but am bit unsure of the line down to Llugwy Res' after the Carnedd Dafydd checkpoint. Someone noted an additional checkP at an old mountain wall - anyone got a GR for this, or any more info on that bit?
    thanks,
    Dave

Yes, same route as 1996 with new checkpoints at A and F to control choice of route.

One more Q for those who have done this. Do you take the train back down off Snowdon, or is this seen as plainly copping out? As I am a hard lad I wouldn't want to do anything other than the toughest option.

Leave the car at Pen y Pass for the shorter option or take the 5 mile gentle stroll down to Llanberis. Or do what I did, get your other half to meet you at the top with child, take her ticket off her, take the child with you on the train, and she can walk down. This is a true story, by the way.

Like your style !! - however if I did that in my house the 'blonde hair Brigadier' would certainly start barking some sharp orders and there would be an immediate withdrawal of privileges !!

Sadly last year there were no trains... be warned! (my husband and child were waiting in the soft play center in electric mountain, llanberis!)
