I should have remembered to be a bit careful running with my top off in the north east - two different lady walkers with distinct geordie accents got more than a bit raunchy with me as I ran past. Nothing to get too excited about mind as they were both tapping on a bit

Glad you enjoyed the route stolly and if you fancy some company on your november trot give me a shout as simonside cairns race is in december so it would be a nice little recce!

ps the race route includes a little scoot through the forest which is adorned with christmas lights and carol music a nice little touch!
Sounds lovely. Instead of taking the race route through the forest I actually ignored the overgrown fire break which I guessed was the way to go and followed the trail further in before picking up the cart track going the other way. Later on there was one little foray into a really dark and spooky bit of pine forest just before going up the side of Simonside. In fact I loved all of the moors and heather and woods and, if you ignore the fabulous views, the actual ridge run over Simonside was a little less exciting what with most of it being slabbed. Great place though Frecks and thanks for the recommendation

Harry is getting on pretty well with sheep, all things considered, especially on the tops where he only comes across them in dribs and drabs. If we're running along, most of the time he will ignore any passing sheep completely but occasionally he will do a short gallivant but soon lose interest. Funnily enough if, for what ever reason, we stop running, like on Sunday to take the odd picture or ironically to give him a breather, Harry can then have too much time to think (and come up with devious schemes) and will suddenly shoot off, having seen a sheep in need of chasing. Not stopping in the first place or slipping his lead on usually sorts that out thoughNice pics Stolly
