A tad warm today but still enjoyed it. Its been a few years since I last did this race but all the memories came flooding back. Achilles tendons complaining on the first climb and lungs complaining on the run in at the end .

    My thanks to Settle Harriers.

A bit of a panic driving over from Wetherby. Couldn't find a loo at the start so had to do "a Paula" en route which put me firmly at the back of the field. Managed to run the first climb (WHY?) then it was all about digging in and being a fell running tourist. Thoroughly whacked at the end but glad I had a go.

Yes - many thanks to Jules and her team of marshalls who did a superb job again yesterday. It was good to see so many young ones helping out (and they are sure to become equally as superb when they are organising the event in years to come!)
Good to see you Alf, although the weather was very different from when we reccied the "Trog" wasn't it??

    Re: Settle Hills

This is the area where I run all the time (the race finishes running along Watery Lane which is about 100 yards from my house) - the going under foot will be fine, its very grassy and fantastic running most the way. There's one big area of uber tussock grass at the top of the race route and one nut case descent off of High Hill but other than that its limestone country running at its best. (I've never done the actual race by the way )

What a cracker of a race! Harrier website says there's a bit of everything and Stolly sums it up. The steep decent was a bit hairy. Good job it wasnt wetter under foot or we would all have piled down on our arses. Wonderful route, beautiful setting, spot-on weather, perfect sized field (I think about 75 ran) and a dead friendly feel to it all. Thx to Settle Harriers and their stewards
