Skiddaw, it's an up and down ;-) Well marked no navigation skills required. I'll be making the trip up again.

Starts by the cricket club, leg it out of the park and across the road and into the woods around latrig. You basically skirt round the edge of latrig and eventually hit the memorial thing at the base of skidaw.
Its then screaming calfs all the way up the main tourist path to the summit, then fire back down.
On the way back down though, you cut off the tourist path to miss out the zig-zags....its flagged and marshalled so you dont need to worry where/when to turn off the path.

Bit of advise that I think daz h would agree with....take the run out to the base of skiddaw steady. We were racing like sill gits straight away and I reckon it affected our climbs.

Am in the lakes with running club this weekend so might do this (Borrowdale reccy on the Sat). Suprised this race is not higher up the order of things on the forum, is this not a popular race? Or is the lack of postings because it's straightforward out and back; up and down (abiet with a mighty lump inbetween)? If I do do it, you'll find me at the back in a Dark Peak vest (crying probably).

    Im not sure really.

Theres still a good number doing it and there's usually a couple of top runners doing it - Ricky Lightfoot whopped everyone last year as well as Jo Waites.

I think alot of people shun it for the 'motorway' like path up skiddaw but come on, its an absolute classic of the lakes races.

Just expect your heels to be ON FIRE!!! descending off it. Everyone took their shoes off after the race last year.
