Have had to pull out due to injured knee. Reply from race secretary, 194 more people on the waiting list!! At least 1 person can run though instead of me failing to get up in time.

    Just incase.

I recently went from preston to fort william.

We booked through megabus for Preston - Glasgow central, on a virgin train for £12.25 return.

Then walked up the road to buchana bus station and caught a city link bus to fort bill for £20.60 return.

2 and abit hours on the train which I really enjoy...it tilts and according to my mates iphone was doing 113mph...
The bus journey dragged at 3hr and 8 minutes...but travelling through glen coe is epic!

So....MEGABUS USE VIRGIN TRAINS FOR CHEAP AS CHIPS!

Ha, wait for the journey back! Sitting in cramp conditions for a few hours does not do your legs any good. Try getting out at a pit stop !!!!!

    Re: The Ben Race

I'm going up from Sheffield £119 return on the train.

    Sheffield - Edinburgh
    Edinburgh - Glasgow Central
Walk to Glasgow Queen St (probably stopping at a decent pub I know in Glasgow)
Glasgow Queen St - Fort William

Approx 9 hours (depending on the pub stop ;-)

Going to make a long weekend of it and might try and bring the bike up with me for something to do on Sunday and Monday unless anyone's got any suggestions?

I'm travelling up from Wigan on the Friday afternoon, collecting mate at Glasgow Airport around tea time and then returning on Sunday. If anybody want's a lift (for a contribution to the fuel) then let me know.

I wasnt allowed. It was strictly walking only. Although I did skip down the ben.

Even though it was walking, we did over-take EVERYBODY going up!
