    Re: Borrowdale 2010

I planned to build up to entering this race next year but entered at the last minute knowing 3 others weren't coming so was able to sub. I hadn't trained for this and didn't think I would get all the way round. As expected I didn't get all the way round and dropped out at windy gap knowing I wouldn't make it to Honister before the cut-off. What a tough race with slippy conditions. Certainly gave me a taster for next year!

Thanks to the organisers and Mountain rescue guys.

Peawet, I sympathise. I didn't make the cut off.

I started the race and just didn't feel right for the first two hours. Navigation was not a problem I just couldn't get going. It was only when I got some food down me that I started to feel normal. I missed the cut off by 4 minutes. Absolutely gutted. It has however probably given me the kick up the arse I need to shed some excess pounds and sort myself out for these longer runs that I want to get into.

Thanks to the organisers and marshalls. And, well done to everybody that ran yesterday. I WILL be back next year.

Come on, then...own up, who's been building cairns on the descent off Gable?!

    Not a tall tale!
So Scott came 6th, 3:11, he was third for a while but fell a couple times He would have ran better if the conditions had been better cuz he has done before, but he will win it in one of the coming years i have faith in my friend!
they said his name wrong at prize giving too ahh
I liked the day even though id dint race, was good, congrats all you runners :-)

I must also thank the kind lady (who's husband was running in the race) that gave three of us a lift back from Honister. A very very kind thing to do. I don't know her name, but, as my mate said to her in the car "she secured her place in heaven".

Peawet and Nightingale -My sympathies. I had the same problem last year, arrived at the bottom of Green Gable with only just over an hour to spare and knew that there wasn't a cat in hells chance of reaching Honister in time, so retired.

Came back this year only slightly fitter but determined to finish. Nearly blew it with some poor navigation after Green Gable, losing about 10 minutes. Arrived at Honister with 2 minutes to spare, one of the last. Had pushed so hard to meet the cut-off, had nothing left. Managed to walk, amble, pretend to run, to get to the finish, not last, but only by one.

Thanks again to the organisers, marshalls, helpers, etc. Especially to the timekeepers for waiting around to see me in.

Many thanks for an enjoyable day out. I last did this in 1987 in just under 4 hours and I somehow have forgotten every single detail of the course since then. I fancied the intervening 23 years would slow me down by about half an hour and was rather disappointed to limp home in 5:13 having bonked after Honister. Must pull the old finger out!

Many thanks to the organisers and marshalls of, what is in my opinion, the best race in the calendar.
Having done this every year since 2006 (I only started running in 2005 and didn't have the bottle then!)
I was made up to get a PB this year, though just missed out on a sub 5hr race. Can't wait til next year, have booked my room at the hotel already

    Re: Borrowdale 2010

Didn't make the start line, had some good training runs the week before round Causey Pike then went and fell over the night before walking the dog on Barrow (wrong footwear choice) twisted my knee, back and calf:thunbdown:
Well done to all who ran and especially Mr. Booth who's wife told me he wasn't fit at the mo!
Got up to Honister to see the race come through
