I don't wish to join the debate either but i find myself thinking like longdogs on this subject. The bottom line is most people don't give a shit, out of sight out of mind, if someone from the public was randomly selected to view the death of every healthy dog that was put down whether they liked it or not things would quickly change.

The same happens with cats, all my mum's cats have been rescue cats, some people working with the CPL will turn their own homes into cat sanctuaries and do all they can to rehome them. The people who go out of their way to look after the welfare of unwanted animals are saints in my opinion.

All my cats have been rescue cats - different kettle of fish to dogs of course, but still - I can't imagine buying kittens off someone. All my cats have been from the cats protection league apart from one who came from a family friend who was moving away (and probably initally from the CPL I bet).

Remember one old mog 'ead who hid behind the piano for 2 whole days - I thought he was stuck, but eventually coaxed him out with a prawn. I hated him at that point and wondered why I had bothered as I had never met such an anti social creature! Didn't take long to talk him into being my friend though  and then he wanted to be EVERYONES friend

Love prawns, don't fancy living behind the piano though - but as long as its only friends you want to be..................

    Unhappy Re: Border Collie Pup

So are you saying that only registered dogs should breed then?

I'm just asking as I'm not up for a debate today. My beloved Fly died in my arms today.....am feeling devastated :-(

Our dog Tammy did in mine and my daughters this afternoon also, she was very old, had lived a good life (we hope) and was quite ill, but that doesn't lessen the impact.

She'll have had a good life for sure Anti, nothing lessens the impact of losing a member of the family, wasn't there a film called 'All dogs go to Heaven'? Nice thought.

Depends whether God allows pork scratchings or not, she won't go through the pearly gates if he doesn't.
