Well, all summer I've been setting off in front of Wendy. At about the 2 hour point she bimbles past me, usually deep in conversation, and takes another 20 or 30 minutes off me. Today's cunning plan was to start behind her.
Not sure if it worked, she still beat me by 7 mins, but I rather fancied, if I squinted hard enough, that I could just make her out in the distance. A sort of result, I think.

Apologies for not remembering the winner's name, I'm just being a biff. It's my first fell season, so I'm still learning the ropes (and the personalities). Though Dark Peak and MV40 are ringing bells.

winner was a Dark Peaker in 2:18 but I forget the name too. My Wendy Dodds strategy was to tuck in behind her on the climb to the calf then hang on for dear life. 2 years ago i tailed her off Winder and have used the 'Wendy Dodds line' ever since.

If it did exist, I think its one run by these guys (scroll down):

also - looking forwards to the photos. A may have been a bit derogatory to a photography whilst being a bit crap and walking but he did say he'd put the photos he took on the FRA so hopefully they'll appear linked from here.

    (sorry btw Mr photographer)

Being one of the Rossy coffin dodgers, really enjoyed the race today........bit of a bad line on the last descent letting Daz get in front but thats life!

After Weasdale yesterday I managed to miss my PB by quite a margin but this race is always worth the trip especially with the weather we had today. One of these years I will go the short way round Calders as well or maybe I just like the extra bit of climb !

My thanks to the organisers and marshalls and helpers.

What a muppet! You had a good run for a grumpy old git. Shame you descend like a fairy!

Big thank you to John broxap and his helpers. Well organised and a truly great race. I enjoyed the route and actually remembered quite a bit of it from 2 years ago. Couldn't quite hold of Chris r from bowland and he had me on the final descent. But we had a good battle and he found a couple of good lines.
Well done Steve on your 1st race back.
The run back is a long long way.

Anyone else steal a look at some of those views on the first climb up. I looked left and it was amazing.

No problem - deserved a bit of abuse anyway, having copped out between CPs 1 & 2. Hopefully you're somewhere in amongst this lot, pabc. See here. Dark Peak participants on the DP website photo pages.

Legs felt like lead today and I really didn't fancy breaking down completely any further out than I already was. Perhaps the body's hinting I've been overdoing it a bit recently - or maybe I was just having a very poor day indeed. Enjoyed the sunshine at least.
