What a wild wet and windy day and night it's been - anyone who's been for a run in this must be mad:wink:

Tried doing the Borrowdale race route but ended up abandoning it due to the weather and the difficulty of navigating in zero visibility. Once back under the clouds enjoyed watching all the spray from the gills being blown back uphill (amazing what some people find amusing. Realised my jacket is in desperate need of reproofing so drove to Keswick.
Fancied treating myself to a jacket with event fabric until I saw the price!!
Underside of the car should be nice and clean now after the drive back to the youth hostel - the roads are under water. I managed to get back... driving VERY slowly past a car that hadn't managed it. There's about 18" of water now so I'm not going anywhere soon. Jacket's busy soaking in the reproofing solution and I'm off to the pub once it's finished.

Probably a french car that conked out? They put the air intakes too low so the engine sucks water in and becomes hydraulically locked, if the revs were high enough the con rods may be bent. No such problems for Volvo 240 owners, the intake is a metre off the floor and backward facing which is very sensible and swedish, that car is just indestructable.

Now when I was a lad it used to be just a damp distributor and you dried it out and went on your way and if the problem was anything else you fixed with a bit of bent wire
